Types of Social Work Services in Schools

Child Study Team

They are part of a multidisciplinary team. Perform social assessment as part of the special education evaluation process. Primarily provide services to the special education population in schools. 
 

School-Based SW

Primary duties involve direct clinical services to students and families, provide psycho-educational programming to all students, and coordinate with community resources. 

Contracted Service Provider

Social Workers can be contracted by the school district to provide direct mental health counseling services to students and families.
